Almost all of the world’s numerous societies are patrilineal (i.e a practice of inheriting or determining descent through the male line), with men playing a dominant role in all aspects of the society’s units. Surprisingly however, there are quite a few number of existing matrilineal societies in some parts of the world that most people do not know of.

Here the following list identifies top 10 of such existing matrilineal societies in the World:

1. The Lao of Thailand

This is an ethnic group located in northeastern Thailand. Here after marriage, the man is required by law to move into his wife’s family home as its new member. Also, the youngest daughter of a family has the exclusive right to inherit the family’s real property. Thus, this is one of the few remaining societies in the world in which matrilocal kinship and matrilineal inheritance still exist.

2. The Amis of Taiwan

Taiwan falls in the second place as the matrilineal heredity is a core practice of the Amis who is part of Taiwan, in which family property is normally given to the eldest daughter of every household. The Amis community is also led by an Empress. Customarily, women owns property, while men participate in military routines as mandated by the tribe’s native law.

3. The Owambos of Namibia

The Owambo tribe is the largest ethnic group in Namibia. Also, its people are spread across eight of the country’s regions. Traditionally, the Owambos practice a matrilineal system of succession and inheritance. And, although in recent times, western influence has caused a shift towards patrilineal inheritance by the people. This custom of matrilineal inheritance is still effective in the tribe’s rural communities.

4. The Bijagos of Guinea Bissau

The Bijagos consist of four matrilineal sets present on the Island of Orango Grande, Guinea Bissau. The usual law of the people recognizes its matrilineal system as a necessity for integrating the entire Bijago community. The empress is the final authority of every household.

5. The Khasi of India

The Khasi tribe is one of the few matrilineal socities that still exist in India. And it’s located in the Meghalaye province of the country. The tribe consists of clans which are determined by the mother’s family lineage. And children are generally regarded as offspring’s of the mother’s family lineage or clan, rather than the offsprings of the father’s family lineage. Customarily, the female children inherit real property such as land in the community.

6. The Minangkabau of Indonesia

This is un-doubtfully the prime matrilineal society in the world and is located in western Sumatra of Indonesia. Even in this society female owns land; while customary law require relationship or family property to be transferred from mother to daughter. The people of Minangkabau in Indonesia treat mothers as the most important person in the society.

7. The Balue of Cameroon

The Balue tribe is an ethnic group which is located in the South-West region of Cameroon. The Balues’ rich culture is matrilineal, whereby children belong to the mother’s family clan; and not the father’s. Thus, the native law of the people vests on the first son of a family’s eldest sister the right to inherit all property belonging to the mother’s brother; and the sister’s son shall use it as he deems fit.

8. The Garo of India

India holds many tribal families to its proper landscape. The Garo tribe is one among them and Garo tribe has been a matrilineal society for centuries. The civilization of Garo people lies in the female heir as the Garo people recognizes the wife as the head of a household and upon the death of the family’s matriarch. Even Garo makes its commandment strict towards the land which is being registered should be on female name.

9. The Akans of Ghana

The Akan tribes of Ghana consist of the Asantes, the Fantis, the Akims, etc.. They are the majority ethnic group in Ghana and presently the most popular matrilineal society in Africa. With an inheritance system in which a man’s direct heirs are his sister’s children, and not his children. However at the moment, this matrilineal system of inheritance among the Akan tribes only applies to customary marriages.

10. The Mosuo of China

The Mosuo tribe is located in western china and it is one of the world’s oldest matrilineal societies. These people are core attached to pure love from mother and has complete trust in humanity. Hence there is a transparency towards why there is matrilineal system.

$4.5 million - Lamborghini Veneno

The Lamborghini Aventador is a mid-engined sports car produced by the Italian manufacturer Lamborghini.

Launched on 28 February 2011 at the Geneva Motor Show, five months after its initial unveiling in Sant'Agata Bolognese, the vehicle, internally codenamed LB834, was designed to replace the then-decade-old Murciélago as the new flagship model.

Soon after the Aventador unveiling, Lamborghini announced that it had already sold over 12 of the production vehicles, with deliveries starting in the second half of 2011. By March 2016, Lamborghini had already built 5,000 Aventadors, taking five years to achieve this milestone.

This list wouldn’t be complete without some version of the mighty Bugatti Veyron. We’re shining our spotlight on the the Mansory Vivere edition here, because not only is it one of the fastest cars in the world, it’s one of the most expensive.

Augmented by German witch doctors Mansory, the 1,200-hp Veyron starts out as a Grand Sport Vitesse Roadster, only to be adorned with a gorgeous carbon-fiber body, a new spoiler package, upgraded LED lights, a revamped cabin, and a redesigned front grill. Further classifying the Veyron as a work of art, maps of historic race events like the Targa Florio are laser etched into the exterior and interior. Oh, and it can do 254 mph.

$3.0 million - Ferrari Pininfarina Sergio

Pininfarina Sergio is a concept car first shown during the 83rd Geneva Motor Show (5–17 March 2013) and is a tribute to Sergio Pininfarina, who died July 3, 2012, at the age of 85 years. The Sergio is a custom roadster in style that Pininfarina used in the designing of the Ferrari 458 Spider, upon which the Sergio concept in turn is based mechanically.

Made on a specific design of Pininfarina in collaboration with Newmax, helmets of the Sergio are personalized with the color of the exterior car.

Beaches are the Valium of the travel world. They soothe, they relax, they make you realize that “real life” occasionally needs escaping. There are very few people immune to the magical lure of the beach. Whether you’re keen on sunbathing, sports, or exploring the underwater world or simply contemplating the infinite possibilities of the horizon, there’s no doubt the beach is the perfect destination for fun and relaxation. Most of all, these slivers of sand against the ocean are a reminder that the world can be quite beautiful. However, there are a number of beaches around the world that have achieved well-deserved fame for their exquisite beauty, endless expanses of white sand and balmy waters.

Let's take a look at 10 most beautiful beaches in the world:

1. Tikehau Island, French Polynesia

Can’t decide whether you want white- or pink-sand beaches? You don’t have to at this postcard-worthy stretch of beach—and that may actually be all you see, because the island is so small. The pristine shore’s beauty is only matched by the bright blue waters, which are prime for snorkeling and scuba diving. In fact, Jacques Cousteau's research group asserts that this remote spot—about a 55-minute flight from Tahiti Island—contained the highest concentration of fish among any other atolls in the world.

2. Dreamland Beach, Bali

This once-shrouded bay situated on the Bukit promontory was first "found" around the 1970s and has since turned into a best goal for surfers on account of its awesome shore breaks. Despite the fact that it has developed in prevalence over the most recent 40 years and new resorts have sprung up, regardless it holds its hang-ten vibe with little shops and shoreline shack bistros like Kelly's Warung, known for its new squeezes, wraps, and smoothies.

3. Bathsheba Beach, Barbados

Rugged, wild, and untouched are just some of the words used to describe this shoreline, where both photographers and surfers flock to catch the best waves and watch the “Soup Bowl,” a name for when the waves crash into the white sand and huge boulders to create a scenic (and foamy) natural phenomenon. It's less of a swimming locale, but you'll have plenty of shots to post on Instagram.

4. Seven Mile Beach, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands

Situated on the western shore of the 75-square-mile island, the entire extend of this 5.5 mile-long shoreline is open property, making it simple to walk around lodging to inn paying little mind to where you book an overnight. Across the board evening, you can get lunch at a sea side eatery, stagger into a volleyball game with local people, bring Jet Skis out further down the shoreline, and finish it off with some snorkeling in Cemetery Reef, known for its rough arrangements prime for ocean life environment.

5. Horseshoe Bay, Bermuda

Although one of the most popular beaches on the island, Horseshoe Bay has a hidden secret: Port Royal Cove (pictured), which has shallow water perfect for young kids and dramatic rock formations that complement wonderfully soft, pink sand. Nearby Spicelands Equestrian Centre even offers trail rides down to the private cove, which is located in part of South Shore Park in Southampton Parish.

6. Harbour Island, Bahamas

Situated off the upper east bank of Eleuthera Island and far from the buzz of other Bahamian shorelines, families and couples alike can spend the day on pink sands just observing a modest bunch of other individuals. Subsequent to lolling in the sun and getting serenaded by the breeze stirring through the palm trees, guests can fly into the town to meander down interesting Dunmore Street, feast on the crisp catch of the day at The Landing, and snatch a dusk mixed drink at Beyond the Reef.

7. Blue Beach (La Chiva), Vieques, Puerto Rico

A long, thin stretch of perfect sand and clear water in a thousand shades of blue make this one of the Caribbean's top beaches. Since it's accessed only by parking in one of 21 tiny turn-offs along a bumpy, unpaved road in the middle of the island's western National Wildlife Refuge (formerly off-limits as a U.S. Navy training base), getting there is part of the adventure. Snorkel on your own around a small cay, or book a trip with one of the island's operators for a trip to its secret underwater spots.

8. Trunk Bay, St. John, USVI

Obviously a standout amongst the most shot shorelines in the Caribbean, if not the world, Trunk Bay sits in the northwestern corner of the Virgin Islands National Park (it was given to the recreation center administration by Laurence S. Rockefeller over 50 years back). Quiet, clear water, and a 225-yard-long Underwater Trail for heavenly snorkeling are enormous draws, as are climbing trails up and into the encompassing greenery loaded with the vestiges of notable sugar stick estates.

9. Waipio Valley Beach, Big Island, Hawaii

This shoreline in Waipio Valley is one of the hardest to get to in Hawaii—you should climb or drive down a deceptively restricted, soak street to achieve your goal. In any case, it's definitely justified even despite the trek: At the base, you're remunerated with a mile-long dark volcanic sand shoreline flanked by 2,000-foot bluff dividers and supported by thick rainforest. On the off chance that that weren't sufficiently picturesque, the Kaluahine and Waiulili waterfalls cut into the precipices at the south end of the shoreline, and are open by means of a stone strewn trail along the surf.

10. Parrot Cay, Turks and Caicos

There’s a reason stars like Bruce Willis and Donna Karan built their vacation homes here: This 1,000-acre private island is only accessible by a 35-minute boat ride from Providenciales, and is home to one luxury resort—see below—and a few private villas. Yes, your entire vacation could be spent without seeing another soul.
