What is the difference between A, U and U/A movies in India?

In India many a times we see the movies are rated as A, U or U/A what is the meaning of these rating given by the Censor board. So we have any other ratings other then these three given by the Indian Censor Board?

Films are certified under 4 categories.

  1. "U" :- unrestricted public exhibition
  2. "A" :- restricted to adult audiences
  3. "U/A" :- unrestricted public exhibition subject to parental for children below the age of 12
  4. "S" :- restricted to specialized audiences such as doctors or scientists
